We are back in the wild west days. Everybody has a gun and cowards will always shoot first. We are a stressed out, angry and unhealthy country.
-
I knew of parents who worked late had their Middle school aged kids take an Uber home from a school game by themselves!! Crazy

-
You can't trust this world in that manner anymore. We are too far past the times of "that doesn't happen here"
-
Exactly. It’s fine until it’s not. I dont trust anybody with my kids.

I once spoke to an uber driver who told me about his job and how many times he's had a gun pulled on him because the passenger was upset at him (his rule was no food or drink in the car). It's not always the drivers who commit the crime...
-
This is the main reason why I no longer do shared rides, I don’t care how much cheaper they are.

Imagine being the driver as this all goes down in your back seat.
-
Right. Thank god he didn't get shot
-
I’dJump out of the car. (Moving or not)

I remember discussing having shared/pooled rides for our taxi company. We sat in a room with three lawyers. It was 2009. And it was agreed there was way to much risk. No waiver was good enough. And no one losing their life was worth a low fare. So we stopped.
-
Most cities don't even allow pooled rides taxis because it is such a blatantly unsafe idea.
-
Agreed. Minneapolis says you have to ask both customer consents. That why we looked at it. But, the liability. I guarantee that if Uber wasn’t offering cheap rides everyone would say “Wait, ride in a car with two strangers?” - that’s what we thought.

Dear
@Uber@lyft@Uber_NYC Please cancel your pool/shared ride program (which@juno doesn't have). You must ELIMINATE risk of#PassengerArguments turning deadly!@nyctaxi@NYPDONeill@TheRideshareGuy@NYCMayor@NYCCouncil#DeathOfUberPassenger@nypost@NYDailyNews@ariannahuff -
PS I know the reported death occurred in Texas. But a violent argument between passengers who are strangers to each other could happen anywhere.
-
.... assuming they were strangers and did not get the ride together.

People obviously don’t read, this was two people that were getting in the uber together. So they obviously knew each other.its not pool passengers that didn’t know each other
-
Someone has passed away due to gun violence but people are mad that users are asking questions under the post?
blows my mind. Maybe we’re busy, driving, shopping for groceries and can’t click on everything that may be paragraphs long so we ask questions wth -
I don’t think she mad. Dude probably made some people question pool riding after his statement. Don’t make uninformed remarks and steer masses into the wrong direction when you KNOW you didn’t read, but feel free to ask questions.
-
All she kept writing was “people don’t read” someone said the same thing to me. They really should focus their injury on gun violence not something so little and insignificant. I stand by my statement.
-
Well they don’t, I stand by my statement too
