Could this in some way be related to the use of oral birth control by women? Some weird feedback mechanism where we create less sperm because women’s cycles are out of whack and they’re impregnable? Is the same true in countries without large uses of birth control?

That’s a really interesting question I never thought about. Why is the sperm count so damn high? Why did it need to be so high? Presumably a decrease is a reflection of something going wrong, but what if it’s a proxy for something going right?

If I had to bet I would bet on it not being a big deal. We still have plenty of sperm. Motility is worrisome. But, shouldn’t this be a slam dunk funding op? Shouldn’t we be more curious?
