LOVE, SIMON and MY FRIEND DAHMER: two recent gay-themed high-school movies, one ends on a Ferris Wheel with two boys kissing while friends cheer below; the other ends with the murder of a hitchhiker by a murderous teen. One feels like liberal fantasy. One feels like awful truth.pic.twitter.com/OmA6c5yt6G

I hope its not just a fantasy that two boys could kiss each other & their friends be happy for them

Wtf is this shit? Why can’t both be true, just like with any other gender coupling?

"Liberal fantasy." Bret my dude, two boys kissing happens a lot more often in reality than serial killings, I can assure you.

Might be bc one is based on an actual persons life story and the other one is a fictional story. That doesnt mean it cant ever happen tho

In the fantasy toxic masculinity is dealt with. In reality it is ignored and men aren’t even allowed to cry...pic.twitter.com/2K6LeByyWo

Simon is a cute story, written by a woman with a PhD in adolescent psychology. It's good, but seems to me a fantasy of what women and girls want gay boys to be like. When I had crushes on guys in school, I wanted to push their girlfriends down flights of stairs.
