Contrarian Artist Dude is still my least favorite genre. “
@BretEastonEllis: Indie Arthouse Horror is becoming my least favorite new genre" -
Couldn’t agree more
@sboke@BretEastonEllis@magiciansbook Too much lazy “art” and not nearly enough horror. -
@CamandBenny Nah, they’re great, but if you’ve been conditioned by the usual formulas, I can see how they might seem too quiet -
I get the appeal
@magiciansbook but as a lover of quiet horror like the orig “The Uninvited" and “The Orphanage” the new crop seems lacking. -
@CamandBenny It’s psychological horror (like the original, ’63 THE HAUNTING). It’s about dread & psychic disintegration, not gore or shock. -
The Haunting is one of our faves
@magiciansbook Psych horror is thrilling when its done with a deft hand. Most recent attempts fall flat. -
@CamandBenny Haven’t seen IT FOLLOWS, but disagree entirely about BABADOOK & THE WITCH -
Looking forward to
#TheWitch@magiciansbook Can’t get on board with BABADOOK. Waiting for this generation’s REPULSION.

@BretEastonEllis Yes! Horror for the intellectual crowd = Great cinematography and music plus a few jump scares. Cant handle real terror -

@TepidButter@BretEastonEllis High Tension. Inside. I saw the latter in a theater and men were shrieking like little girls. 1 almost fainted -
@The__Cooler It Follows and The Witch both had real terror. You don't need the extreme violence or action of High Tension for real terror. -
@FisherBurton The only terror was the overpraise those 2 films got. High Tension and Inside made people uncomfortable. Like real terror shld -
@The__Cooler That wasn't an argument. Since you actually saw those films, try to be specific and say what they were lacking. Because the.. -
@FisherBurton comps to It Follows i will pass. Great music and cinematography and winks to 80's horror is not my idea of terror -
@FisherBurton Now a pregnant woman alone in a house by herself with a psycho? That's scary as fuck. Even minus the blood. Buildup was gr8 - 2 more replies
