Off topic: wanted to ask a question about what you’ve been saying about EU4 and not penalizing the player for pop depletion: if most productivity is agricultural than are large non-disease pop shocks felt long term? If the Cremona is sacked is that felt 20 years later?
Most pre-industrial warfare is not 'demographically significant' in the sense that we can't observe its demographic effects. Exceptions, however, are notable and do happen (second punic war, coallpse of Rome in the west, the mongols, three kingdoms period, etc)
