Playing Dark Souls music while grading, because it turns out I am the final boss.

Controversial opinion: best boss in the series is Artorias (DS1), but the best boss music is Sir Alonne (DS2).

tfw played a strenght build and could literally stagger artorias with dragon greatsword so the most interesting fight of DS1 turned out to be a cakewalk for me

Artorias is the reason I really, *really* want a Dark Souls boss rush mode. Like, I did the fight (two-shot; don't worry, Manus handed me my ass quite a few more times) and I wanted to just keep doing it. Dex build with an uchi though, so I had zero chance of staggering him.

filthy dex player i always thought manus was unreasonably cruel as a boss, artorias certainly is the one fight that beats ornstein and smough in "iconic-ness" for me every fight is different with every weapon, I needed to help a friend with dexbuild out when he fought artorias

Every game, I go in thinking, "I'm gonna do magic or strength" and then, like, I wake up hours later with an Uchi, medium armor and a ton of dex. Every time.

bruh, I know dex is fun as hell but the feeling of a big ass zweihander or a drake greatsword special attack is just *chefs kiss* variety is one of the many things making this game gr8, but ill admit ive never gone full dex either. btw i know its cringe, my fav is gaping drake

There is no cringe, just as there is no cheese. Funny thing is, I main GS in Monster Hunter, so it's not like I can't do big slow weapons in *other* games.

ive never played MH so i cant judge, but the funny thing about strength in DS is that it really doesnt have to be that slow. the range on some weapons is completely nuts, and you as long as you midroll you can even do pvp. i played demon spear +3~ and it was absolutely disgusting

MH is all PvE, so it doesn't need to be PVP balanced. GS and Hammer, the slowest weapons, are all about patience - they hit really hard, but you need to wait for openings. Sword-and-Shield and Longsword in MH feel more like a dex build - get in, stay in, dodge everything.

Stagger in MHW works differently than in DS: it's a hidden build meter, closer to poison than the strict poise calculation of DS. Big weapons stagger faster (esp hammer), but you can't count on stagger to save you if you trade hits. And in MH as with DS, you can't trade hits.

Anyway, if you like Soulslike combat, I think MHW is probably going to be a fun experience for you. World is a good entry into the series and it's pretty cheap these days. Good holiday buy to hold you over till Elden Ring.
