To be fair, the Army War College, Air Command and Staff College, Marine Corps University and the Naval War College all have had tenure-track (or equivalent) searches in the age of COVID.

That feels at least a LITTLE different

To be fair, I'm one of those people who always thought Starfleet's 'we're not a military' TNG posture was pretty clearly a BS PR line, so I'd tend to see Starfleet Academy as being more like a service college or PME institution than a civilian university.
