Same story in Classics. And I assume we will see those job postings (presumably w/ some prestige poaches) in few years. If they really build a *university,* chances are someone you know and respect is going to end up teaching Latin I there.

And there is no comfort in assuming they'll fail to assemble a faculty, I think. Whatever else they are known for, there were a lot of names in that announcement who know how to run universities and I cannot imagine they will lack for funds.
The sneering and arrogance that came from the reaction to the Austin uni announcement is something else. Another symptom of the toxification of academia.
I think a lot of it comes from the fact that the institution is clearly meant purely as a political safehouse and indoctrination center for right leaning beliefs, less so someone establishing a new university.
