And there is no comfort in assuming they'll fail to assemble a faculty, I think. Whatever else they are known for, there were a lot of names in that announcement who know how to run universities and I cannot imagine they will lack for funds.

I don't see why it would be any different from whoever teaches Greek Grammar at Liberty University. I've no reason to believe they're especially evil but they're also not going to have the relevance of a classicist at, say, Michigan

Also: if they want to stress the importance of an open society, they could do a lot worse than having someone like you teach the role of repression of religious minorities in the collapse of Western Rome and the easy incorporation of half of Eastern Rome into the Caliphate.

I can't help but think that a real university staffed by actual academics with a conservative slant is noting but good for the country. Half the country is conservative whereas approximately 0 percent of the academy is.

Polarization by educational attainment is objectively bad for the country if it means that there are no competent administrators roughly half the time.

Same story in Classics. And I assume we will see those job postings (presumably w/ some prestige poaches) in few years. If they really build a *university,* chances are someone you know and respect is going to end up teaching Latin I there.
What then?
