I don't actually like Verhoeven's Starship Troopers very much. I get what he is trying to do, but I think the film is fighting a straw-man version of the book and of Heinlein in general and while the combat scenes are meant to be satirical send-ups of dumb action scenes...
...they're so dumb that I find them a bit irritating. Not saying it is an objectively bad movie, just that it isn't for me.

“Starship Troopers” is definitely one of those movies that is more “interesting" than “good."
