Now that I've seen Dune twenty twenty one a couple times, I think the Sardaukar sequence is maybe the best few minutes of the entire thing. It's super weird and unsettling and just fills you with dread. Gotta watch it in a theater or with nice headphones though.

I'm not really scared of the worms but I'm scared of whatever the fuck is going on with that chanting guy.

I don't know that they really sell it later on, probably because they didn't want to make the Atreides legions seem like useless little babies and you have to let Duncan Idaho go anime protagonist on them. But they certainly set them up to be scary.

I thought they did a pretty good one-two on the palace steps where the Atreides guard wrecks the incoming Harkonnens and then gets taken out quickly by the surprise Sarduakar flanking attack. A very effective "These guys are better than those guys but weaker than THESE guys."

See, I felt like that scene was saying they won because they used a sneaky tactic. They didn't just tear through the ranks. They literally stabbed them in the back. Which is certainly an effective strategy, but it doesn't demonstrate that they're peerless fighters.

Yes, though as I've noted elsewhere, ruthless cunning being part of battle effectiveness is a big motif in Dune, see https://acoup.blog/2020/02/21/collections-the-fremen-mirage-interlude-ways-of-the-fremen/ … at (3) and (4).
