I think they did a good job with them, but generally the combat scenes felt off to me. Like if there's dart guns that beat the shields, then dart guns all around surely? Also the fight with two mobs of people running at each other with knives at the spacedock looked legit silly.
Note how easily Duncan swats aside a dart that is stuck on his shields trying to penetrate. I actually think they realized Dune-style shield combat really well.
I don't know. Feels like >more< darts would be the solution there. Whole thing slightly undermined too by looking a bit too much like superhero movie battle scenes. That's not it's fault though. We exist atop a cultural hell mouth.
My personal pet peeve was how Gurney Halleck did That Thing They Always Do In Movies But No Commander Would Ever Do: Leading an infantry contingent in a disorganized, loose formation charge across open ground. At least the guys at the palace understood good unit cohesion!
