Really seems like an inescapable law of gravity that people who critique film on YouTube must either end up situating their critiques within their own ever expanding video side plots, or else end up really as general documentarians who just occasionally discuss films.

I feel like RedLetterMedia's Half in the Bag is an active satire of this -- they have "plot" bumpers on their reviews that are deliberately extremely-low-effort nonsense.
