What motivates John Eastman, prof. of constitutional law, to write the flagrantly illegal, stasiotic memo for Jan 6 ? Sheer power-drunkenness, and the belief that the other side, Dems, have no right to exist and hence that everything is justified. Things are bad.

I think there's also a component of terror - the actual belief that if the 'other guys' - in this case, the radical red terror that is ::checks notes:: Joe Biden - get power, catastrophe will result.
My own sense here is that partisan media outlets have been using the 'this election could be the end of everything if the other guy wins!' line to push turnout for so long, quite a lot of people have come to believe that. Which produces some pretty insane actions.
