The interesting part abt the interpretation from Kill Bill Vol 2 is which character was the one providing the take.
I think this is the one thing that could save the scene is if you assume Bill has just fatally misunderstood the character. That said, this isn't how I read the scene in terms of how it is shot and delivered.

One thing that tends to echo throughout Kill Bill is that many of the male characters are just flat out abusers, the biggest among them being Bill. Thus, everything he says, especially to The Bride, should be taken w/ grain of salt
