It's strange to me that so many Hollywood takes, from Kill Bill Vol 2's bafflingly wrong interpretation of the character to the most recent grimdark deconstructionist takes fail to understand that the interesting part of Superman is not the super, but the man.
The enthralling conceit of the character is almost precisely "what if you created the fascist dream of an ultimate super-man but instead he decided to embody Christian and civic virtues of humility, service and kindness - what kind of person would he be then?"

Just like the bit about Captain America that is interesting is "what if you created a character that is powerful like America is powerful, but who actually lived up to what America is at its best or is in its best ideals, instead of the shabby thing we so often are?"

Anyway, we have enough grimdark deconstructions of Superman (I think The Boys' Homelander may be the best), but I'd really want to watch a movie where Superman is, you know, Superman. Or more correctly, where Superman is Clark Kent.
