whenever I see fan content, memes, etc about Superman though it's almost entirely stuff focusing on his goodness and kindness. That's why All Star Superman was such a hit.
It's strange to me that so many Hollywood takes, from Kill Bill Vol 2's bafflingly wrong interpretation of the character to the most recent grimdark deconstructionist takes fail to understand that the interesting part of Superman is not the super, but the man.

The enthralling conceit of the character is almost precisely "what if you created the fascist dream of an ultimate super-man but instead he decided to embody Christian and civic virtues of humility, service and kindness - what kind of person would he be then?"

Just like the bit about Captain America that is interesting is "what if you created a character that is powerful like America is powerful, but who actually lived up to what America is at its best or is in its best ideals, instead of the shabby thing we so often are?"

The interesting part abt the interpretation from Kill Bill Vol 2 is which character was the one providing the take.

I think this is the one thing that could save the scene is if you assume Bill has just fatally misunderstood the character. That said, this isn't how I read the scene in terms of how it is shot and delivered.

I generally agree, but I saw Bill’s perception of Superman as a comment on Bill himself. He cannot understand goodness; he cannot see it. He only understands evil. He was still dangerous and potentially violent in that scene—look at the knife he used to make his kid’s sandwich!

Bill was partially right, but because he's a villian, he got the main point wrong: Clark Kent is Superman's love letter to the human race, and to Jonathan Kent in particular. Clark is Superman trying to be like his Pa.
