Students asked me today, what survives in greater quantities (just straight word count), ancient Greek or Latin? Of the Ancient Greek and Roman periods, that is.

I just remembered this because when I did a year as a post-Bacc at Georgetown, the classics department there had a complete set in a room they used for the smaller advanced classes and yeah - a lot more greens.

The fact that there are more surviving works in Greek becomes even more apparent when you consider a couple factors that make the Loeb Classical Library's overall coverage somewhat disproportionately skewed in favor of Latin. 1/3
