It's a good thing the thousands of bullets heading at her were comign squarely within the bounds of her shield. Also, is WW bullet proof? Not a DC person.

Well, she's your standard generically strong, tough, fast superhero. Sooooo, if the writer wanted her to be it wouldn't be much of a stretch. p.s. I disagree with Bret, Wonder Woman absolutely could have broken through. She, herself that is, alone.

Heh. I'm glad that, while watching that scene, I had many of the same thoughts that you raise in the article. Do you have any thoughts on why the Germans seem to come out slightly ahead in the cited battles?
-
On the western front, the biggest impact is probably the ground. Because they had invaded France initially, the Germans could, when the stalemate set it, withdraw to the best defensive positions. It meant they were on the best ground basically everywhere.

I heard a senior Army leader describe the present day situation in Eastern Ukraine as WWI trench warfare with drones. Thoughts?

I really wanna see that explanation on why Luigi Cadorna manages to beat out Franz Conrad von Hotzendorf and Enver Pasha for Worst WWI General. Because, as you say, that is some horrifyingly hardcore competition.
-
I mean, hell, there's even a case to be made for Ludendorff and Hindenburg because while they were superb tacticians, they made a series of awe-inspiring strategic blunders that took a war that could have been ended on okay-ish terms and lost FUCKING EVERYTHING.
