there needs to be a couple of words at least for the magnitudes of wealth between millionaires and billionaires.

I think unconsciously common usage upped millionaire to meaning "has (tens of?) millions" rather than having "a million" some time ago.

That's fair, I suppose, but I worry that sliding definitions obscure that having a million in net worth still puts people in a pretty small category; around 8% as I recall. Not nothing, to be clear, but also not normal.
