I am of the belief that academics writing about ancient literature should have some consideration of the history and material remains of the era they study in their writing, whether it be a section or a chapter. These works weren’t written in a vacuum!

Oh my this here 
I tried to get teaching Latin every semester of my MA and zilch. PhD was in a history department and there wasn't any system for loaning me over either.
So frustrating. I *wanted* to teach Latin.
