Thinking about blogging topics after the Victoria II series is done. Want to gauge interest in some 'life in academia' topics, particularly: 1) What is grad school like in the academic humanities? 2) What is the job market like (beyond just 'bad')? 3) What is adjunct-life like?

There’s already lots of stuff by academics for academics. A real strength of your blog is explaining the stuff that the intelligent public is interested in but doesn’t know much about.
-
Yeah, this would absolutely be explaining these things for people who are not academics but would like to understand how parts of academia work either because they want to become academics, or out of curiosity.

I'd be interested in reading about these topics, but you should run a poll!

I’d be curious to know why it got to this, where it is headed.

I'm very biased because I'm currently a graduate student, but I'd love to see pieces published on all three, especially because these are topics the general public is not very aware of

I think a primer on what it means to be adjunct/tenured/whatever could be useful, yes

Definitely want to hear it, as someone considering grad school for history.

Tbh I would probably skip those posts. You do you but I'm a Brazilian developer that likes history, so i have zero interest in the subject

I would be interested. Am gainfully employed outside of academics but have looked at a History MA and adjunct teaching positions with casual interest. Would be a second career thing, once I retire. Either way, curious about the life and work.

My only input is if you are going to do these topics you need to make it clear it is in the US context, and that other systems of HE are not the same (we have our own unique dysfunctions
) -
Yes, of course. Perhaps once I've given my assessment, scholars in other higher ed. systems can note where their systems differ and in ways! Honestly, I'd be interested to hear those details too.
