My sense is that scholars of Chinese warfare consider these numbers plausible at least to the rough order of magnitude. I don't have the expertise to disagree.

From what I recall of the scholarly stuff I've read, some of it is supported by archeological finds (mass graves) but there's also considerable doubt because Chinese scholars had a habit of constantly revising historical records throughout dynasties for politicial purposes.
