Expecting “normal” Americans to know much about AFG isn’t practical IMO. This is the job of the bureaucracies; it’s part of our public trust. And we got 20 years and billions and blood to pay. And as a whole, we failed. That includes me—I was part of the COIN world in my own way.

You're probably right. I was in college in the Spring of 2006 and the history department offered a course specifically on 'Afghanistan and Central Asia.' Seemed relevant, so I took it; it was 5 guys in ROTC, one of their friends and me. 35 seat class, 7 actual students.
