I believe in and respect the vision of the framers. Especially Article V of the Constitution, where they write at some detail about how their vision is open to subsequent amendment "valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution."
Oh sure, but just speaking from experience with ancient constitutions, even when the result of your ugly political process is a horrible kludge, it seems the temptation to then say, 'And should anyone alter so much as a letter of these words, let him be accursed forever.'

One advantage they had was they had the horrible example of the articles of confederation. The founding fathers had a more realistic view of the constitution than today’s originalists do.
