To be fair I think this also kind of happened to Boomers

Really? I kind of have assumed since at least 2010 or so that we'd be a 'lost' generation - the regrettable but largely forgotten trough in a graph between the boomers and what came after.

I'm talking only about our self-perception and ability to understand that we are in fact old

So when I say "supplanted" I mean "as the youth/counterculture," not in terms of...I don't know, GDP or whatever

Fair enough, though the one goes with the other, since our culture is an economic proposition.
