You'll all have to pardon me for being political for a moment but... It is not legal to storm the capitol and should someone have (lethal) force used upon them while in the commission of that crime they are not a hero, but rather a criminal who f***ed around and found out.

I agree that nobody should have complaints that she got shot given: 1. She was part of a mob trying to break into the Capitol. 2. The mob had called for Pence to be lynched. 3. Lawmakers were in the building. Reasonable to think their safety was in danger.

But I disagree with the broad framing. Merely breaking the law should not give the police the right to shoot you. In this case it was justified but in far too many other cases US police kill people over trifles.

I am very glad they didn't rush in to shoot- turns out it wasn't necessary. She was at the front of the line of a mob to break down a door and rush in to attack legislators and staff. Shooting her made the mob fall back...They did not have peaceful intentions. Lives were at risk.

"The police officer stood his ground; she would not comply." There, language the rightists should be able to understand.

he popped out from around a corner, not exactly a stand your ground type of thing

many other victims of police shootings were in violation of the law, that is not and should not be the only consideration. Babbitt received no warning and was not posing an imminent threat
