I've been seeing this push to get 'justice' for the insurrectionist who was shot. I'm sorry, but, 'justice' - defined by our laws - is what she got in that hallway. Justice is a cold thing; perhaps you were thinking of mercy? That's a different creature and not always on offer.

Don't get me wrong - I'm sad at every death and injury that occurred as a result of the capitol insurrection, even the insurrectionists. But if you violently storm the capitol with the intent to attack congress, 'getting shot' is a foreseeable *and lawful* outcome.

Does this also apply to looting stores or only the capitol?

I am not a lawyer, but my sense is that the law treats threats to life more seriously than threats to property, so storming an occupied building chanting your intent to hang one of the occupants might more readily trigger deadly force than looting an unoccupied one.

I can feel empathy for someone who was thrown away as a pawn by people who do not care that they exist (and indeed probably despise them) but I have no sympathy for them either. I still can't get over the battle flag being in the house

A parallel worth mentioning here is how quickly these people will rush to defend any police killings of Black minorities, no matter how unjustified the shooting, but as soon as one of their own is killed for a much more justified reason, the pitchforks come out.

Funny how do many the people who work to demonize helpless civilians who get shot by police lionize someone who was killed while actually a threat.
