One bit of vanity I have decided to permit myself is twitter-searching for ACOUP's URL. It is nice to remind myself, when writing feels thankless, that on any given day chances are very high someone, somewhere on this birdsite is discussing something I've written.

Neat! I also got a wave of traffic from Reddit the other day, I think because there was a discussion of tools that had been unchanged for a long time and folks were pointing to my discussion of how blade sheers for sheep haven't changed much in a few millennia.

Some Tools Are Just Good! (I remember reading somewhere that bone folders for bookbinding are like that - "we tried metal, wood, and plastic and they just aren't as good") I recently slammed your series on Sparta and the Fremen Mirage and found them incredibly illuminating

Absolutely. Some designs just come out right and then you don't change much. One example I come back to is the basic thrusting spear. The standard set of spearhead shapes are all pretty much set in the early iron age. The standard 'leaf-bladed' spear shows up *everywhere.*
Lataaminen näyttää kestävän hetken.
