Am I strange in that I generally prefer to always give my own translation of Greek or Latin text when writing? I can't always do that for the blog when it's a long passage and I haven't the time...but for a short sentence or whatever - I mean, we are supposed to know how, right?

Leaning on the Loeb or what have you feels like a crutch. What's the point of all of that language training if I won't be confident in my own translation in the event?

This is unforgivable curve-wrecker behavior; you maintain the convention of relying on the Loeb so that people whose Latin and Greek are worse won't look bad for doing so! Have some solidarity, smh

Pfft. Solidarity is for the pre-class Paleography meeting where we try to figure out how six squiggles and what appears to be a drawing of a butterfly add up to a Latin word. One class starts, it is red-in-tooth-and-claw competition.
