Interesting for sure. One thing I'd note though - I think you are right about how sometimes the Anglophone poli-sci space - or really Anglophone academia writ large. On the flip side, I think that insularity can be a bit deceptive...
...because it gets thought about in terms of countries 1 (or 3 if we include the UK and Canada) vs. a bit more than two dozen in the EU. But in terms of the actual number of academics, departments, publications, its much closer to 1-to-1 because the USA is very big.
No excuse for the insularity, of course, which is still a significant hindrance and I think is more severe in the broader foreign affairs space than in some other fields.
To a certain extent, but it also has effects domestically. Particularly, the US field doesn't consider foreign cases nearly enough; hence not checking if theories generalize across countries; hence those theories not generalizing well to different (esp. future) periods in the US
In my experience, UK political science literature is much more in the European tradition; I haven't seen enough Canadian stuff to get a strong impression.
