We ended up needing two - one per cat - since Percy is a bit of a food bully. The tray the food is dispensed into is a bit too small for two cats to eat at once. But otherwise, yeah, they work pretty well.
I only need it for one cat, the other one has self control and can be trusted with a full food bowl (placed up on the counter where the one on a diet can’t reach it), so that won’t be a problem.
