...because that is the kind of thing that hiring committees value (even if it is no guarentee of actually getting a job) and I can't afford to deviate from that because - again - I must face them every year. Academic freedom doesn't exist in the precariate. 10/20

Given that the university apocalypse happened, and isn't over, I'm starting to think history (and a lot of humanities) will become effectively privatized (sometimes in a good way, but more often in a really bad way). Is this more or less what you think is going to happen?
