Totally didn’t just spend an extra 20 minutes in the shower this morning debating with my shower curtain the implications of calling the Seleukid polity a Kingdom or Empire for my future prospectus. I’m fun at parties.
What about the Roman solution of speaking only really of the king - war with Antiochus and whatnot - and essentially treating the polity as just the personal possessions of an individual?

Certainly an option! This would also neatly snowball into a discussion of chora basilike. I imagine this question is what I am going to be grappling with for a long bit as I dance between the centrality of the king and the institutions of the state.
