Oh, for sure! I've never had an unkind word about my languages from...anyone, really (though I heard a few unfairly directed by professors towards grad-student-archaeologist-colleagues...but that's a professionalism problem).
But we can be our harshest critics and being in grad classes with colleagues who had Latin from really early ages in private or religious schools was tough on the ego - even though those colleagues were never anything but excited to have people to do Latin/Greek with.
