5) still not enough languages for grad study 6) MA in Classics dept. for 2 more years Latin and Greek 7) Still get rejected a ton from PhD programs 8) Third year hanging out in classics dept. getting more Latin and Greek 9) finally land a spot in an ancient history PHD
And of course 10) still feel massive imposter syndrome when around classics grad students (I did my PhD in a history dept.) with substantially more language training than me.

Strong ditto on this. Constant feelings of impostery fraudiness here. Plus, I went into secondary ed after my (history) PhD, making me doubly reluctant to engage with scholars in academic positions. (Also: I just want to add, judging from ACOUP, that you are no imposter!)

Thanks! By the way, I read your book - Spare No One - and it is very good and quite necessary. A monograph on the topic has been desideratum for a long time - it's in the queue for an ACOUP fireside recommendation.
