1) As I've said, I find Peter Singer's views entirely unacceptable, as you'd expect from an old-fashioned Catholic socialist. That said, I wasn't aware (and am sorry to hear) that he *specifically* called for abuse - unless I misunderstand, you're accusing him of a serious crime?
I agree it is not good for our discourse but I also don't want to be willfully blind - there are quite a lot of people in our field who believe in guilty by association of that sort and it would be foolish for someone in the precariate to test fate.

I know they exist, though arguably much less so in the UK - and I think it's an ugly phenomenon, and those of us lucky enough not to depend on them (I mean myself, obviously not anyone in a precarious position), should call it out when encountered.
