It really is shocking to see the volume and diversity of sources from 229/228 BC onwards: Plutarch, Livy, Appian, and especially Polybius. I am not exaggerating when I say that the last time I had anything remotely equivalent were my first episodes on the Wars of the Diadochi.
Very true though of course the number of sources can be a bit of a mirage when some rely on others. "Livy and Polybius say" can often just mean "Polybius says and Livy repeats," etc.

Can’t forget about Phylarchus (and his misgivings) too! But having Polybius alone is a huge relief, and from a storyteller’s perspective Plutarch makes a big difference.
