I recently read a striking summary of democratic norm erosion, but I was shocked it didn't include the Bork nomination, which is object lesson #1 for conservatives on this issue. It looms so large in conservative memory.

Especially in that it conditions how conservatives understood subsequent court fights. The Thomas and Kavanaugh nominations were understood through the prism of Bork on much of the right. Hard to understand the emotional response there without understanding Bork.
