I also do a fair bit of 'ancient history can help you understand <current event>' in places like
@ForeignPolicy - in part in the hope of showing how a dash of classical learning can help in making sense of our present. -
I suppose if I was structuring a Classics-for-the-Public publication, I'd probably want a mix of 1) the ancient literature behind your modern pop culture, 2) the ancient history behind your current events and 3) cool things archaeology can teach us (the latter is always a winner)
