Ah, but cf. W. Murray, The Age of Titans (2012) and C. Steinby, The Roman Republican Navy (2007) - the Romans are doing more ramming and maneuver than you think. (Also, that second book is difficult to find. Try to get your library to interlibrary-loan you a copy).

And the more popular Rome Versus Carthage: The War at Sea (2014) by Steinby is good and anything on Egadi helps to dispel or at least turn the historical narrative away from the “no ramming” or “landlubber Roman” myth!
