Reminder to always check source text in footnotes; found a typo in a footnote to the otherwise very excellent Erdkamp, Hunger and the Sword (1998), where App. Bel. Civ. 4.122 is typo'd as 5.122. Easy mistake to make and why when researching one checks the original text!
And immediately afterwards, why we always check the original text: App. Pun. 100. H. White translation says 10k inf., 4k cav (https://www.livius.org/sources/content/appian/appian-the-punic-wars/appian-the-punic-wars-20/#100 …), Erdkamp writes 2k cav. Original text is ἱππεῦσι δισχιλίοις "two thousand horsemen" - victory to Erdkamp.
Appalled that I failed to pick up on that in my review!
Given how ample and comprehensive Erdkamp's footnotes are, I think you may be quite easily forgiven for missing one typo in a single note. He has to detail correct, to be clear, just points to the wrong passage.
