Anyway, #SMH2021 was great, the panels were great - but we need to get more pre-modernists and early modernists out there and everyone else needs to go to their panels! 8/9

Many years ago, we medievalists did a panel on military professionalism at SMH (Charleston, maybe?). Some of the audience comments were pretty hostile, as I recall, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. I know I'm always game for the debate. :)
Someone really should do a panel on military history modernity writ large, with folks from across the chronological spectrum represented, and which goes beyond Parker's "Military Revolution" stuff.
