Provide a demonstration version. I used the course's term paper to show my method in a more limited format (just Romans and Macedonians, just heavy infantry kit) to show the method could work and get response.
Wheeler was, as I recall, very skeptical that the evidence existed to apply the method. On this point, I think I largely convinced him by the end that sufficient evidence existed. He remained unconvinced the effort was worth doing in the sense of leading to a bigger conclusion.

Which is why the dissertation itself put more emphasis on what the cost-and-materials analysis could tell us in terms of the causes of Roman success, mobilization systems, etc. So, very helpful feedback...just very, ah, directly...delivered.
