Is there something wrong with me that "Vikings" and "The Last Kingdom," both highly rated historical dramas, look like garbage to me? I just don't get how anyone buys into these shows.
I find it harder to get into historical dramas set in eras where I know something or teach. It's hard to get to suspension of disbelief when they get core elements of culture or material culture wrong.

It's not only that but the lack of interest in character. I guess some writers think that if they have an exotic backdrop that people find compelling, they don't have to bother making the characters seem real.
