LOL at the commenter complaining on my EU4 post that I'm just a woke-scold making everything 'problematic' in an essay where I literally stop to say, "EU4 history is the story of states. Now this isn’t an invalid way of teaching history, to be clear!"

I have some initial thoughts here: https://acoup.blog/2020/09/11/miscellanea-my-thoughts-on-crusader-kings-iii/ … but I also plan to give it the full Teaching Paradox treatment at some point in the future. Overall, I think it's a good foundation which will hopefully see expansions fleshing out the space outside of Europe.
You should be warned that there is a serious fascist problem in the paradox community. You're probably going to get more of that before this is over.
Yeah, I've been more or less in the Paradox community for a while now and this is certainly true - particularly in the HoI community, which draws in the Wehraboos. Something tells me as we get closer to modern games - Vicky2 and HoI4 - I'm gonna see more of this.

re: the human cost of things being ignored, that was very much what drove me from EU4 to Victoria 2. I had managed to end up with 0 manpower due to a series of stupid and pointless wars and despite every man in the country being dead, everything was fine.
My populace wasn't mad at me. The economy was all right. Every man between the ages of 16 and 40 was dead and it didn't seem to affect anything at all. And so I tried out vicky which simulates the actual people under your rule, people who would presumably be a lot madder at me.
