If I recall correctly, it shared some similarity to an atlatl. It's held in the hand as the bow is drawn and fired, but isn't physically attached to the archer's body (unlike, say, a thumb ring). Any idea what I'm talking about?
Trying to remember more. It's held in front of the bowstring, unlike modern archery release aids.
Never seen anything like that. And it sound pretty likely to interfere with a clean release.
