I mean, this is the story of every recent recession: faculty hiring freeze, let go of your adjuncts, kill some tenure lines...but who can hardly expect the college to forgo one more Senior Associate Vice Junior Assistant Dean of Student Affairs?

Also is it let go of your adjuncts, or hire a bunch more that collectively cost less than even a single faculty line?

Presumably you fire all of the adjuncts first, then hire new, even more poorly paid adjuncts once you realize that courses do in fact need teachers.
