I have long suspected that this divide isn't about what scholars are best at so much as what each scholar *enjoys* more. Do you like studying languages for the sake of learning new languages? Or do you see learning languages primarily as a gateway into learning other things?
Well and we all know that historical literary sources are always just the easiest authors to read. Like Thucydides! Or Demosthenes! Easy-peasy!
