I'll start a Patreon to fund my PhD, the subscriber tiers look something like this: Tier 1) You get a PDF of the final thesis. Tier 2) You get exclusive access as a proofreader prior to submission. Tier 3) You're named in the acknowledgements and receive a printed and bound copy.
I mean...I would be a *giant* hypocrite to try to talk you out of it, wouldn't I? 
Though, if I may, I have found that building my own public-facing platform (read: a blog) really helped me feel less isolated and less frightened of life outside of the standard academic career path, because it connected with people eager to hear what I could say.
Maybe it is time to find a way to take some of your learning and research in classics directly to the people, while you wait for that spot on the academic ladder to open up?
